The perfect Father’s Day gift we think!
Last week, we were very lucky to be invited aboard ‘The Pilgrim of Brixham’, built in 1895 by J W & A Uphams, one of Brixham’s most famous yards. PILGRIM was one of six similar vessels built at the yard during that year. She is one of a Handful of Surviving red sailed, wood built Brixham Sailing Trawlers.
We gathered the gang from the brewery together, and set sail under the command of our Skipper Brendon. We were guided through the bay with the experienced and steady hand of John at the helm, and with the wile Elliye scaring us half to death with her rigging climbing and deck hand skills. (Sam’s superior coffee and biscuit game was also well on point.)
Off we sailed, out of Brixham harbor, no rest for the wicked, however, we were put straight to work…
We had an absolutely fantastic time on board The Pilgrim, and would wholeheartedly recommend the trip to anyone. By the end of our journey, we had some very weary, salty and smiley brewers and bartenders…
Thanks so much to the guys from The Pilgrim, we certainly left with some fantastic memories, and maybe just a bit of a piratey glint in our eyes.. (I mean, come on, she looks like The Black Pearl right?!)
If you would like to head out on The Pilgrim yourself, she is available for hire http://pilgrimofbrixham.co.uk/
We introduced our first collaboration beer recently!
Sanctuary was a beer brewed with Fred from Moonchild Brewing who are located up in the beautiful North Devon village of Petrockstowe. This brew was mashed in here in Totnes on our brewkit, with all the beer going in to sugar primed eco-kegs to condition.
We have already been up to Petrockstowe for our second collaboration, which is a Vanilla & Coffee Imperial Stout. This second brew will all be bottled, and should be perfect to drink in the Autumn…
